How many posted signs do I need?
Enter the length of the boundary you want to post (or the size of a square tract) and the distance between signs. The calculator counts the signs, including one at each end and extras for corners and gates.
Questions
Why one more sign than the length divided by the spacing?
A straight line of signs needs one at each end. 1,000 feet with a sign every 100 feet takes 11 signs, not 10.
What spacing should I use?
Use your state's maximum if it sets one, and closer where trees, hills or bends block the view from one sign to the next. Many landowners also put a sign at every corner, gate, trail and road entrance.
My land is measured in acres. What is the boundary length?
Choose 'Square tract in acres' and the calculator uses the perimeter of a square of that size. Long, narrow or irregular tracts have a longer boundary, so measure it on a map when you can.
