No Drone Signs

Use a no drone sign for your yard, pool, HOA common area or private park where you do not want drone flights. The sign states your property rule, and it does not by itself make flying illegal, because drone rules come from the FAA and local law.

Where no drone signs are used

Someone with a backyard pool posts one on the fence facing the neighbor's trees, where a drone hovers over the back deck. An HOA board puts one on the gate to the common park, where residents complain about flights over the play structure. A rental property owner hangs one on the garden shed, where guests set up a camera for a party. The sign states the property rule where a pilot would start a flight.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

A gate or fence that faces the open sky over the yard calls for the 24 by 18 inch size, and a pool fence or shed wall suits the 12 by 18 inch size. Aluminum with corner holes stays up outdoors on a fence through the year. Plastic is light and suits a temporary event or a rental, tied on with zip ties through its grommets. A park used at dusk is the case for reflective aluminum. Check your state and local rules on drones before you choose the spot.

Questions about no drone signs

Does this sign make drone flying illegal?

No. The sign states your rule for your property, but drone rules come from the FAA and local law, and a notice on the ground does not change them. Check current FAA guidance and your local ordinance before you rely on a sign.

Where should it be posted?

Put it at the property line, the gate or the pool entrance, where visitors and pilots see it. For a large lot, place signs at each road entrance so the notice is seen from every approach.

Which size and colour should I choose?

A 12 x 12 in square sign suits a gate, and an 18 x 12 in landscape sign reads better from a driveway. White on red is strong and easy to read, while black on yellow carries the warning look and works on either material.

Can I add the name of the property?

Yes. The extra line can carry a property or park name, such as Oak Hill Park, so pilots know which area the rule covers. Keep the name short so NO DRONES stays large. The live preview shows the line under the printed word before you order.

Will a sign stop a drone from flying over my yard?

A sign states your rule for the property, but it cannot stop a drone already in the air. Check your state and local rules for what applies to flights over your land. Post the sign where people launch from, such as a park gate or a driveway.
