Pickleball Court Signs

Pickleball is popular on shared courts, and a sign at the gate tells new players which court is set up for the game. Post it on the fence by the entrance or on the shade structure so players see it as they arrive.

Where pickleball court signs are used

A tennis court painted with pickleball lines on a weekend, a retirement community's outdoor court, or a county park court with a covered bench all draw players who need to know which court is theirs. A court coordinator may set one at the gate for the morning group, and a community center might post one on a bench by the court. It saves the walk-up player from guessing whether the court is open for play.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

A spot on the fence by the court entrance, at about eye level, lets a player see it on arrival and before stepping in. The 24 by 18 in size suits a fence panel, and 12 by 18 in fits a narrow post or a side gate. Aluminum holds up outdoors, being rust-free and gloss printed for sun. Plastic is light and suits a covered court. Use holes or zip ties, and check your state and local rules for any signs a public court must post.

Questions about pickleball court signs

Can I post a pickleball sign on a tennis court?

Yes, when the court is set up for pickleball or shared with tennis. Use the extra line to say which game the court is for, such as Pickleball only, and make sure the rule matches your schedule. Your HOA or park may have its own posting rules.

What does Play at your own risk do?

It is a short notice that a player uses the court at their own risk. It does not replace insurance or advice from a lawyer in your area, so ask one if you want the liability wording looked at.

Which size and colour suit a court?

A 24 x 18 in sign reads from a court path. White on blue or white on green both show well against fencing and court colours. Aluminum holds up outdoors, and plastic works for a temporary court.

Can the sign list court hours?

Type the hours on the extra line, such as Open 8 AM to dusk, and check the preview. Keep the hours brief, and replace the sign when the times change. A posted hours line gives players a clear rule before they arrive.

Does the sign mean the court is reserved?

No. The sign says the court is set up for pickleball, but it does not reserve time. Reservations need their own system, such as a booking sheet or an app. If you run open play, say so on the extra line so players know they may need to share.
