No Diving Signs
Hotel pools, apartment complexes and backyard spas often have shallow steps and ends where a headfirst dive can cause serious injury. Post this sign at the gate or along the deck edge, and use the extra line to name the danger, such as Shallow water.

Where no diving signs are used
A community pool with a shallow step near the deep end, a backyard spa with a shallow ledge, a water park's wading area beside a slide, or a private lake dock with a sand bar near the edge all hide depth that a swimmer cannot judge from the deck. A pool operator may post one on the gate, and a homeowner might mount one on the rail beside a spa. Diving into water of unknown depth is the risk this sign names.
Choosing the size and where to hang it
Fasten it to the gate or the deck rail at about eye level, where people walk toward the water and can read it before they run or jump. The 24 by 18 in size fits a gate, and 12 by 12 in suits a small rail or a spa cover. Aluminum holds up outdoors because it is rust-free and resists chlorine air and sun. Plastic is light and suits a covered deck wall. Check your state and local rules for pool signs, then mount with holes or zip ties.
Questions about no diving signs
Where should a no diving sign go?
Put it where swimmers walk to the water, usually at the gate, on the deck fence and by the shallow steps. On a long deck, use two signs so one is always in view. Some states and counties set where a public pool must post notices, so check your local health code.
Aluminum or plastic for a pool deck?
Aluminum suits a permanent spot outside. The aluminum is rust-free at .040 in and has a gloss UV print. Plastic is light and printed on one side, which works for a temporary spot. Its brass grommets make it easy to hang on a fence.
Does a sign make the pool safe?
No. A sign is a reminder, not a safety device. Some states and counties set their own wording for public and shared pools, so check your local health code before you choose the words. A private owner can also ask their insurer which notices they want posted.
Does a no diving sign mean the water is shallow?
The sign states the warning, but it does not measure the water. If the depth changes across the pool, type the danger on the extra line, such as Shallow water at the steps, so people know why. Check the actual depth and post what you find.
Which colour is easiest to see from the water?
White on red and black on yellow stand out most against a pool deck, while white on blue suits a blue fence. Pick the pair you can read from the gate. The live preview shows each colour, so choose the one that matches your deck and fence.
