Pool Rules Signs

A pool rules sign lists the basics where guests walk in: no running, no glass and the hours they can swim. Hotels, apartment complexes, HOAs and private clubs post one at the gate so the rules are read before anyone reaches the deck.

Where pool rules signs are used

A guest-house pool beside a rental cottage, a boutique inn's rooftop deck, a cul-de-sac pool shared by several families, or a fitness center's lap pool all draw people who never read house rules. A fitness center manager may post the list at the locker room door, and a homeowner might place it on the fence beside the side gate. The problem it solves is the swimmer who never saw the rules because they were posted in the wrong spot.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

Put the list where people walk in, at about eye level, so they read it before reaching the deck. The 24 by 18 in size fits a wall or gate panel, and 18 by 12 in suits a smaller pool fence. Aluminum is the right pick outdoors, since it is rust-free and holds up to sun and chlorine. Plastic is light and suits a covered wall. Use holes or zip ties through the grommets, and check your state and local rules for what a pool must post.

Questions about pool rules signs

Where should pool rules be posted?

Mount the sign on the fence or wall beside the gate, at eye level, where guests read it before they go in. A 24 x 18 in landscape sign reads from a few steps back. Some states and counties set wording for public and shared pools, so check your local health code first.

Can I change the pool hours later?

Type the hours on the extra line, such as Pool hours 9 AM to 9 PM, and the preview shows the change as you type. Once printed, the line cannot be edited, so order a new sign whenever your hours change. Keep the hours the same on any other pool signs you use.

Plastic or aluminum for a pool gate?

Aluminum is the sturdier choice for a gate that gets sun, rain and wet hands. It is rust-free at .040 in, with a gloss UV print. Plastic is light and flexible, with brass grommets, and suits a rental or a temporary pool.

Can the sign list rules beyond the three printed ones?

Yes. The extra line can add one more rule, such as Children under 12 need an adult. There is room for one line, so keep the wording short. The preview shows exactly how it prints before you order.

Does this sign list the swim hours?

Not in the printed words. The hours have their own sign, so use the pool hours sign for swim times. If you want one sign to cover both, add a short hours phrase on the extra line and check the preview for length.
