No U-Turn Signs
A no U-turn sign on private property helps drivers use the right exit and keep fire lanes and entry lanes clear. Schools, churches, shopping centers and office parks post it at lot exits and one-way drives, and the extra line can point drivers the right way.

Where no u-turn signs are used
A no U-turn sign goes at the exit of a medical park's ring road, the far end of a boat storage lot, or a car wash exit where a turn sends cars back into the stacking line. Drivers who miss a turn often cut back across the lane, and the sign tells them to keep going. Parking garages with a one-way spiral also use one at the bottom of each ramp.
Choosing the size and where to hang it
On a post at the exit, facing a driver who is about to turn, the sign sits at about eye height. The 24 in x 18 in size reads from a moving car, and the 18 in x 12 in size suits a short lane exit. Aluminum takes sun, rain and road grit outdoors. Plastic suits a sign on a covered wall. Check your state and local rules before adding any enforcement wording, since rules on turning can vary.
Questions about no u-turn signs
Is a no U-turn sign enforceable on a private lot?
On your own property the sign states your rule, and enforcement is up to you, your lease or your HOA. Public roads are different, since only the city or state sets official traffic signs there. Check your local rules before you post one near a road.
Where should it go?
Put it at the lot exit or where a driver might turn around, at eye height and facing the car. An 18 x 12 in landscape sign reads from the driver's seat. Reflective aluminum shows at night in 18 x 12 in, 24 x 18 in or 12 x 18 in.
Red on white or black on white?
Red on white is the traditional prohibition look and reads as a rule from a distance. Black on white is plainer and fits a business or HOA with a quieter style. Both come in aluminum or plastic.
What direction should the extra line give?
A direction helps most, such as Right turn only or Exit this way, since the sign then tells a driver what to do instead. Keep the words short so the sign reads at speed. If you want a note about towing, check your state and local rules first, since those rules depend on where you are.
Does one sign cover a long drive?
A sign at the exit works before the turn, and a driver who has already turned needs a sign ahead of the next turn. Two signs on a long drive can catch drivers who miss the first one. Walk the lot at a busy time to see where cars try to turn, and place the second sign there.
