One Way Signs
Parking lot managers, drive-thru operators and event organizers post a one way sign where cars must travel in a single direction, such as a drive-thru lane or a row of angled stalls. The sign is a flat panel mounted on a post or wall, so drivers read it before they turn into the lane.

Where one way signs are used
Garage operators and lot owners need this sign where traffic may only flow one direction, such as a ramp that runs downhill, the back alley of a restaurant where delivery vans enter from one end, or the loop around a self-storage yard with a single gate. A one way sign at the start of each lane tells drivers which way is allowed before they commit to the turn, so two cars do not meet nose to nose in a narrow aisle. Event planners use the same sign for a week-long fair or a temporary lot, where drivers are new to the layout.
Choosing the size and where to hang it
Set it where drivers see it before the turn, on a post at the mouth of the lane or on a wall at the start of the aisle. The 12 x 12 in square fits a short lane, and the 36 x 24 in sign reads from farther back down a long aisle. Aluminum suits an outdoor lot, plastic is light for an indoor garage level, and reflective aluminum helps on a lane used after dark. If towing or parking rules cover your lot, check your state and local rules first.
Questions about one way signs
Can I put a one way sign on a public street?
Public streets are up to the road authority, so check with your city or county before you post anything on a public road. This sign is a flat aluminum or plastic panel for a lot, garage or private drive, not a road-agency traffic sign.
Which arrow and size fit a drive-thru lane?
Pick a bold arrow pointing right or left, toward the way cars must travel. An 18 x 12 in landscape sign fits a wall at a drive-thru lane, and a 24 x 18 in sign reads better at a lot entrance. A 36 x 24 in size gives a wide event lot the most room.
How should a one way sign be mounted and colored?
Aluminum is rust-free and can have 1/4 in holes in the corners for screws on a post. Plastic is light, prints on one side and hangs from brass grommets, so it suits a sign you may move. Black on white blends into most lots, while white on blue stands out more from a moving car.
What can go on the optional extra line?
Use only a handful of words, such as DRIVE-THRU ONLY, LOADING LANE or STAFF PARKING, so a driver can take it in quickly. Check the wording in the live preview before you order, since it shows what prints, extra line included.
How many one way signs does a lot need?
Count each point where a car could enter the lane from the wrong end, and place one sign at each. Five or more signs save 10%, and ten or more save 15%, so a larger order costs less per sign.
