Questions about buried cable signs
Which header fits a buried line?
Orange Warning is the default, for a hazard that could cause death or serious injury. Yellow Caution is for minor or moderate injury. Ask the utility owner or your safety officer which header fits the line you are marking.
Does the sign show where the cable runs?
The sign marks a single point, so place one at each end of the run and at any bend or gate crossing. Use the extra line for a route name, a phone number or a building name, so anyone digging knows who to call.
Aluminum or plastic outdoors?
Aluminum is 0.040 in thick, which makes it the firmer choice for a post or stake. Plastic is 0.020 in, flexible and printed on one side, so it suits a light marker on a fence line. Holes let you bolt the aluminum to a wood post.
