Questions about do not operate signs
Is a sign enough to keep a machine off?
No. A sign warns people but does not stop equipment from starting. Follow your site's lockout and tagout steps, and check your local code and safety officer for what your crew must do before work begins.
Danger or Caution?
Danger is the default and marks a hazard that will cause death or serious injury. Yellow Caution covers minor or moderate injury. Your safety officer should pick the header based on the machine and the work being done.
What size suits a machine?
Use 18 x 12 in landscape on a small panel and 36 x 24 in landscape on a large machine housing that people walk past. A cable tie through the 1/4 in holes at the top corners will hold the sign on a rail or guard.
