Questions about dock edge signs
Caution or warning?
CAUTION (yellow) fits a dock edge where a fall would most likely cause minor or moderate injury, such as a short step down to the yard. WARNING (orange) fits a higher edge or a dock where a fall could cause serious injury. Compare the drop height from the walkway, and ask your safety officer to confirm.
Where should I put it?
Mount it on the dock wall, a post or the door frame, facing people as they come out to the edge. Along a long dock, put a sign at each dock door so every bay has its own warning.
Which material works on a dock?
Its .040 aluminum is stiff and rust-resistant, and corner holes take bolts into a post or wall. Plastic is light and flexible at .020 in, which suits a sign you move between bays. Add a dock number, such as Dock 4, in the extra line.
