Graduation Banners

Parents order a graduation banner with a photo for high school and college grads. It goes up for the party in the garage, on the front of the house, in the yard or at the school. The ring layout pairs a round photo with a college-style line such as CLASS OF 2027, and the upright layout puts a top word such as GRADUATE above the photo.

Helpful guides

Where graduation banners are used

A parent hangs one above the food table at a backyard grad party, so guests see the graduate's photo as they reach for a plate. A family puts a second on the front of the house for the week of the ceremony, where neighbors driving by can read the class year. A high school senior takes a third to the school gate on the last day, for photos with friends. The buyer wants the photo and the class line readable from the street or across a yard.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

Pick the 6 by 3 ft wide size for one fence panel, or 8 by 3 ft for a long run. The 4 by 2 ft size fits a porch rail or a yard gate. On a windy fence, choose vinyl mesh, since its small open holes let the wind pass through. Mesh has the same sizes and prices as solid vinyl. Solid 13 oz vinyl is the pick for a sheltered spot. Hang it with zip ties or bungee cords through the grommets, pulled snug.

Questions about graduation banners

Do we need the photographer's permission for a studio portrait?

Yes. A studio portrait usually needs the photographer's print release before it can go on a banner. The order form asks you to tick that you took the photo or have the right to print it, so tick it only when that is true. Your photo is stored privately and used only to print your order.

Where does the class year go?

Type it on the college-style line in the ring layout, such as CLASS OF 2027. The upright layout has a top word instead, such as GRADUATE, with the photo below it and the name and a line under the photo. Type the year exactly as you want it read, because the banner prints exactly as the preview shows.

Can a designer make the layout for us?

Yes. Choose Design it for me, an extra $35, then send your notes and files. We design the banner from them and email a mockup within 1 business day, with 2 rounds of changes included. Nothing is printed until you approve the mockup.

Can we match the school colors on the banner?

Choose one of 20 color pairs, including navy and gold, maroon and gold, royal blue and white, and black and gold. Pick the pair closest to the graduate's school or team colors, then check the preview. The banner prints the two colors you pick, so the preview is your last check on how they sit with the photo.

Which layout suits a yard party?

The ring layout has a party feel, with confetti, the photo in a round frame, a script line such as Congratulations and the college-style class line. The photo-on-the-left layout fits a long fence along the yard. For a fence or a gate, the upright layout is the one to choose, since its tall sizes suit those spots.
