Where texas 30.07 signs are used

A 30.07 notice is what Texas businesses hang when they allow no visible handguns from license holders: gyms, coffee shops, medical offices, salons and auto repair shops are common examples. The rule talks about each entrance, so a store with a front door and a garage bay door needs two. Churches, private schools and office buildings with several public doors often order one per door, together with the 30.06 notice for concealed carry.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

Put one at each entrance, at eye level and in clear view before a person reaches the door. On a glass storefront, the 24 x 36 in upright size can go on the wall next to the door or inside the glass facing out; the 36 x 24 in wide size suits a wall above a counter-height planter or a gate. Aluminum takes screws into brick or a post. Plastic with grommets works for zip ties on a fence.

    Questions about texas 30.07 signs

Do I need a 30.07 sign at every door?

The statute asks for the notice at each entrance to the property, displayed where the public can clearly see it. Plan on one sign per public entrance. Quantity savings start at 5 signs (10% off) and reach 15% at 10 signs.

Does a 30.07 sign stop concealed carry too?

No. A 30.07 sign covers handguns carried openly by license holders. For concealed carry by license holders, Texas uses the separate 30.06 sign, so most businesses that want no handguns post both signs.

Can I add my business name to the sign?

Not on this sign: the wording is the statute's, laid out so every line stays over 1 inch tall. Put your name or hours on a separate sign, such as a business hours sign, near the door.

Should the 30.06 and 30.07 signs hang side by side?

Many businesses mount them next to each other at each door, so a visitor reads both before entering. The two notices are separate in the Penal Code, and each needs its own English and Spanish text at the required letter height, so they are sold as two signs.

Is the Spanish text on the sign checked?

The Spanish is the version the Texas Department of Public Safety published for this notice, copied word for word, accents included. The law itself gives no Spanish wording, so if you want a second opinion, ask your lawyer to read the sign before you post it.
