ID Badges Required Signs

Post this sign at a staff entrance, lobby, plant gate or the door to a secure floor where everyone inside must wear a visible badge. It reminds staff, contractors and visitors of the rule at the door, so anyone without one knows to check in first.

Where id badges required signs are used

A lab suite on the third floor with a badge reader beside the door, a dental office back hall, a shared office building with a card reader at the elevator bank, or a warehouse office with a turnstile all want a visible badge before a person goes further. A building manager may place one at the elevator bank, and a contracts office might post one on the wall of a shared hall. It tells a visitor that an ID is needed before they reach the reader.

Choosing the size and where to hang it

Place it at the first spot where a badge would be checked, such as the turnstile, the elevator bank or the wall beside the reader, at about eye level. The 24 by 18 in size suits a wall beside a door, and 36 by 24 in fits a wide wall seen from the entry. Plastic is light and suits an office wall. Aluminum is the choice for an outdoor door or a warehouse gate, since it is rust-free. Use tape on a clean wall or the holes on aluminum.

Questions about id badges required signs

Notice or caution?

NOTICE (blue) fits a badge rule in an office or school lobby, where no hazard is involved. CAUTION (yellow) fits a plant or site where a person without a badge could walk into moving equipment or a restricted work area. Your site safety rules and security policy decide which applies, so confirm with your safety officer.

Does this sign check badges?

No. The sign is a reminder only. Your badge reader, reception desk or guard does the checking. Post it beside that reader or desk, where a person without a badge would first walk in, and keep it clear of door hardware so it stays readable.

Can I add a company or floor line?

Yes. Type a line such as a company name, a floor number or Check In at Front Desk, and the live preview shows the sign as you type. Aluminum takes 1/4 in holes at the corners for screws to a wall or frame. Plastic is light, with brass grommets for zip ties.

Does the sign need a badge reader to work?

The sign does not check anyone. It states the rule, and a reader, a guard or a sign-in desk does the checking. Many offices use the sign to show visitors where to get a badge first. Pair it with a badge desk or reader, and keep the badge rule in your written policy.

Can the sign say where visitors get a badge?

Yes. Type a short line such as Visitors check in at reception on the extra line. The preview shows how it prints under the printed words. Keep the instruction short so a person reading it from the door can act on it right away.
