South Carolina No Concealable Weapons Signs
South Carolina's law sets the size, symbol and wording of the sign that bans concealable weapons on a property. This one follows its measurements: 8 x 12 in, a black handgun in a 7 inch circle with the slash running lower left to upper right, and NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED in 1 inch black capitals at the bottom. A 36 x 48 in version covers premises without doors.

Where South Carolina no concealable weapons signs are used
South Carolina businesses, offices, clinics and churches that do not allow concealable weapons inside post this sign at every entrance to the building. A restaurant puts one on the front door glass and one on the patio door, and an office park hangs one at each lobby entrance. Event grounds and outdoor venues without doors use the large 36 x 48 inch version at the gates, sized and lettered for being read from farther away.
Choosing the size and where to hang it
Mount the 8 x 12 inch sign so it is clearly visible from outside, 40 to 60 inches from the bottom of the entrance door, one per entrance. On glass, order it without holes and use clear outdoor tape facing out; on a wall or post, aluminum with corner holes takes screws. The 36 x 48 inch sign goes 40 to 96 inches above the ground, in enough places to be seen from any way in.
Questions about South Carolina no concealable weapons signs
Where does the sign go?
At each entrance to the building, clearly visible from outside, placed 40 to 60 inches from the bottom of the entrance door. The 36 x 48 in sign for premises without doors goes 40 to 96 inches above the ground, in enough places to be seen from any point of entry.
Can I add my business name or change the words?
Not on this sign: the statute sets its words, sizes and symbol, so nothing else goes on it. Put your business name or any other notice on a separate sign next to it.
Why are the words on four lines?
The statute asks for 1 inch capitals on an 8 inch wide sign. At that height NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED is far wider than 8 inches, so the words stack in four lines under the circle, each one a full inch tall.
Can I order this sign in a different size?
No. The South Carolina law fixes the size at 8 x 12 inches, or 36 x 48 inches where there are no doors, so the builder only offers those two. Any other size would change the 7 inch circle or the 1 inch letters the law asks for.
Is a red circle and slash allowed?
Yes. The law asks for a black silhouette of a handgun and black capital letters, and sets the circle size and the direction of the slash. It names no color for the circle, so we print the circle and slash in red, which reads as a ban at a glance.
