Sponsor Banner Ideas
A sponsor banner thanks a business for backing a team, a league or an event, and it tells the people at the field who the business is. Sponsor boards are read from the stands, a parking lot or a passing car, so the words need to be few and large. This guide covers what a sponsor banner should say, one look for every sponsor on a fence, a thank-you board for all of them, logos, sizes, mesh for an outfield fence, and how leagues order a set.
What a sponsor banner should say
Start with the business name on the first line, in the biggest letters. Write it the way the business writes it on its own sign, so people recognize it at once. Our sponsor boards take up to 34 characters on that line, so a long name may need a shorter form that the business already uses.
Add one short line under the name for what the business is backing, such as a team or a season, and put a phone number or a website on the last line. Three lines is plenty. More lines on the same board make every letter smaller. As a rule of thumb, about 1 inch of letter height reads easily for every 10 feet of distance, so a board read from the bleachers needs bigger letters than one read from a car.
- Line 1, biggest: the business name, as the business writes it.
- Line 2, optional: what the business is backing, such as a team or a season.
- Line 3, optional: a phone number or a website.

Auto shop board on an outfield fence
An 8 by 4 foot board in mesh for an outfield fence. Mesh lets the wind pass through its holes. Every sponsor on the fence can get the same red look with their own name swapped in.
Use this
Pizza place board in yellow
A 6 by 3 foot board in mesh along a park walkway. The name is the biggest line, so it reads from the path, and the phone number sits on the last line for parents who want to call.
Use this
Dentist board on a fence panel
A 6 by 2 foot wide board in mesh, tied to a fence panel near the gate. Two lines are enough when the business wants its name and one friendly line to stand out.
Use this
Realtor board for a clubhouse wall
A 4 by 2 foot board in vinyl for the wall of a clubhouse. It is small, so it suits a short wall where people stand close, and removable hooks rated for its weight can hold it.
Use this
Roofer board on a gym wall
An 8 by 3 foot board in vinyl for an indoor gym wall, hung from removable hooks rated for its weight. White letters on black read well from across a room.
Use this
Credit union board in green
A 6 by 3 foot board in mesh for a chain link fence. Five or more copies of this same board save 10%, which helps a league that wants one for every sponsor with the same wording.
Use this
Proud sponsor board, red and white

Use this
Red thank-you board for a field
A 6 by 3 foot thank-you board in white on red, for a softball field. Order five copies of the same board and the 10% copy savings apply, one board for each field.
Use this
Insurance agency board in vinyl
An 8 by 4 foot vinyl board in black on white for a sponsor who wants the business name big and one line of thanks under it. Ask about Design it for me if the business needs a logo.
Use this
Pharmacy on a 10 foot fence run
A 10 by 6 foot banner in mesh for one large sponsor on a long fence run. On a run this long, mesh lets the wind through, so it is the one to choose.
Use this
Bakery board for a tournament
A 6 by 2 foot board in black on white for a weekend tournament. Keep the second line short and about the event, so the words stay large enough for a parent to read from the stands.
Use this
Upright hardware board by the walkway
A 3 by 6 foot upright board for a walkway, where people see it from the side as they come in. Upright boards suit a narrow gap or a path better than a wide sign.
Use this
Car wash board, blue
An 8 by 3 foot board for a car wash that sponsors the team. Hang it on a fence panel or a wall with ties or hooks through the top grommets, and check that it hangs flat.
Use thisOne look for every sponsor on the fence
A league with ten sponsors can use one design for all of them: the same colors, the same size and the same layout, with each business name and phone number swapped in. The boards then look like a set, and the fence looks planned. Pick one color that suits the team or the league, such as blue, red, green or black, and keep it for every board.
Each sponsor still needs its own board, because the name on each one is different. Make a list with every business name, phone number and board size before you order, so each board goes to the right business and none is missed.
A thank-you board for every sponsor
A thank-you board covers all of the sponsors at once, so it is one board for the whole fence instead of one per business. Our thank-you boards already print the headline, THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS. You fill in two lines: the league or team name, and one line for the season or the event. Keep both short, so the letters stay large enough to read.
Because it is the same board every time, a league can order one copy for each field. Five or more copies of the same board save 10%, and ten or more save 15%.
Logos, and the Design it for me service
A logo makes a sponsor board easy to spot. Only use a logo that the business owns. If it does, upload the files and your notes through Design it for me, which costs $35 more.
We email a mockup within 1 business day. You get 2 rounds of changes, and nothing is printed until you approve the mockup. If the business has no logo yet, we can design a new one for $35 more.
Sizes, and mesh for an outfield fence
Choose the size by the space and the reading distance. Our sponsor boards come as wide 4 by 2, 6 by 2, 6 by 3, 8 by 3 and 8 by 4 foot banners, and as upright 2 by 4 and 3 by 6 foot banners. The table below lists each size with its text banner price.
Chain link is a good match for mesh. Mesh has small open holes, so the wind passes through it instead of catching on it. This page offers mesh first, at the same price as vinyl. For a long outfield run, the fence lengths of 8, 10, 20 and 25 feet, all 6 feet tall, are on the Mesh Fence Banners page.
| Size (feet) | Shape | Text banner price |
|---|---|---|
| 4 x 2 | Wide | $25.95 |
| 6 x 2 | Wide | $38.95 |
| 6 x 3 | Wide | $57.95 |
| 8 x 3 | Wide | $76.95 |
| 8 x 4 | Wide | $101.95 |
| 2 x 4 | Upright | $25.95 |
| 3 x 6 | Upright | $57.95 |
How leagues order a set
The copy savings count copies of the same banner only. Five or more copies of one board save 10%, and ten or more save 15%. A set of different sponsors, each with its own name, is priced one banner at a time, so the savings do not add up across different businesses.
A simple order works like this: pick one design, type in the first sponsor's words, and order one board for each business. Then order the thank-you board as its own item, in five or more copies if the league wants one for each field. Keep the copy list next to the order so the boards match the right businesses.
Common questions
What should a sponsor banner say?
Use the business name on the first line, in the biggest letters, the way the business writes it on its own sign. Add one short line about what they are backing, such as a team or a season, and put a phone number or website last. Three lines is plenty. More lines make every letter smaller, so keep each one short enough to read from the stands.
Can we put a business logo on the banner?
Yes, if the business owns the logo. Upload its files with your notes using Design it for me, which costs $35. We email a mockup within 1 business day, you get 2 rounds of changes, and nothing is printed until you approve it. If the business has no logo, a new one costs $35 more.
How many sponsor banners can we order at once?
Each sponsor usually needs its own banner, since the name is different. The copy savings count only copies of the same banner: five or more copies of one board save 10%, and ten or more save 15%. A set of different sponsors is priced banner by banner, so order the same thank-you board in five or more copies when a whole league wants one.
Should an outfield fence use mesh or vinyl?
For a chain link outfield fence, mesh is a good pick, because its small open holes let the wind pass through. This sponsor page offers mesh first, at the same price as vinyl. A solid vinyl board catches more wind, so it suits a wall or a gym better than an open fence. Fence lengths of 8, 10, 20 and 25 feet, 6 feet tall, are on the Mesh Fence Banners page.
How long does a sponsor banner take to arrive?
Banners ship in 1 to 2 business days, then ground shipping takes 2 to 5 business days. We cannot promise an arrival date, so order early enough to cover those days before the first game. Shipping is $9.99, and free on orders of $99 or more.
How big should the letters be?
As a rule of thumb, about 1 inch of letter height reads easily for every 10 feet of distance. A board read from 30 feet away needs letters about 3 inches tall, so the name line should be the tallest line on the board. Our live preview shows the letter sizes on the banner itself before you order.
