Team Banner Ideas for Baseball, Soccer and More
A team banner says who is playing, and it hangs up for the whole season. Most teams want the team name, a season line, a league or school line and a list of players. Every sport page has four ready styles, so you can pick a look quickly and change the words to fit your team. Here is what to put on a team banner, how the four styles differ, ideas for each sport, a championship banner, and where and how big to hang it. The ideas below are real banners in the builder, with the words already typed in.
What goes on a team banner
Start with the team name. It is the one line you must fill in, and it is the big line people read from the stands. A name can run to 22 characters. A short name such as CINDER OWLS fills the banner at a comfortable size, while a long name prints smaller.
Most teams add a season line on top, such as 2027 SPRING SEASON, and a league or school line on the bottom. The bottom line can carry a coach's name, a club or a town. Each of these lines can be switched off.
The roster is the list of players, one player per line. Write the number, then the first name and the last initial, such as 7 Caleb B. A roster holds up to 16 lines, and each line can run to 22 characters.
- Team name (required): the big line, up to 22 characters.
- Season (optional): a top line, up to 30 characters.
- League, school or coach (optional): a bottom line, up to 34 characters.
- Players (optional): up to 16 lines, number first, then first name and last initial.
Four styles on every sport page
Each sport page has four ready styles: Seams, Script, Big ball and Varsity. Seams makes the whole banner into the sport's ball, with the team colors on the letters. Script adds racing stripes, a name in handwritten lettering and a players bar along the bottom. Big ball uses a dark team color with a huge ball cut off by the edge. Varsity uses arched varsity letters, field stripes and a double border, with the ball in the middle.
Colors come in 20 pairs, such as navy and gold, maroon and white, purple and teal, or black and pink. Pick the pair once, and the whole banner follows it.
Premium adds $60 for a one-of-a-kind design, made with AI after you pay. It is offered on the team pages only, and you see a proof before anything prints.
Ideas for each sport
Each sport has its own ball and its own feel, so start with the sport and then pick the style. Every idea in the gallery uses a real style, with words that fit its lines.
- Baseball: a roster with numbers suits a dugout wall or an outfield fence. Varsity and Seams both work well.
- Softball: the Script style suits a friendly message, with the players on the bar along the bottom.
- Soccer: a wide banner along the sideline, with the season on top and the roster below.
- Basketball: Big ball on a gym wall gives a bold name. Seams turns the whole banner into a basketball.
- Volleyball: Seams or Varsity on a gym wall or behind the bench.
- Football: a long roster needs room, so choose 8 x 4 ft to keep the names readable.
- Hockey: navy and Columbia blue give a cool look for a rink lobby or an entrance.

Use thisA championship banner
A championship banner hangs in the gym, the clubhouse or the trophy case after a title. Its big line is the title, up to 22 characters, such as CHAMPIONS or DIVISION CHAMPS. The top line can carry the season and the sport, and the bottom line names the team.
The championship layout can also list the players, so one banner honors the whole roster. It makes a keepsake for the team room. Championship banners come in the same four styles and the same sizes as the team pages.
A thank-you sign for the sponsors pairs well with a championship banner. The sponsor banners page has the sponsor signs, with the same sizes you see here.
One banner for the team or one for each player
Most teams order one team banner and list every player on it. That is one banner, with the roster as part of the design, and it is the simplest choice for a whole squad.
A banner for each player is a separate banner. A photo banner puts one player's own picture and name on a banner, and it costs $71.95 at 6 x 3 ft, the same as a team banner at that size. Each different banner is priced on its own, so ten different photo banners are ten banners, each at its own price, and they can all go in one order.
Copies of the same banner save money. 5 or more copies save 10%, and 10 or more copies save 15%. A team that orders five or more of the same banner, say one for every family, saves 10%.
Where it hangs and what size
Dugouts, outfield fences, gym walls and bleacher rails each call for a different size. A 6 x 3 ft banner fits a dugout wall or a gym wall. An 8 x 3 ft or 8 x 4 ft banner gives a long roster room on the outfield fence or along the sideline.
Solid vinyl is 13 oz and weighs about 13 ounces per square yard, so a 6 x 3 ft banner weighs about 1.6 lb and an 8 x 4 ft banner about 2.9 lb. Hemmed edges and brass grommets go all the way around. Zip ties through the grommets hold a banner to a fence. Mesh has small open holes, so wind passes through it, which suits a chain link outfield fence.
On a gym wall, use removable adhesive hooks rated for the banner's weight. On a fence, use zip ties. The guide on how to hang a banner covers each spot step by step, and the banner size guide has the full chart.
Team sayings and wording
Common questions
What goes on a team banner?
Only the team name is required. Most teams add a season line on top, a league, school or coach line on the bottom, and a roster of up to 16 players, one per line. Each line can be switched off, and the live preview shows the banner exactly as it prints.
How many players can a team banner list?
Up to 16 lines. Each line can run to 22 characters, so write the number, then the first name and the last initial, such as 7 Caleb B. A long roster needs more room, so the 8 x 4 ft size keeps the names readable.
What is Premium, and when do I see a proof?
Premium adds $60. It is a one-of-a-kind design, made with AI after you pay, and you see a proof before anything prints. Premium is offered on the team pages only, so pick a sport page to see its four styles and the Premium option.
Is one banner for the whole team cheaper than one per player?
Usually, yes. One team banner lists every player. A photo banner for each player is a separate banner at $71.95 for 6 x 3 ft. The 10% and 15% savings count copies of the same banner only, so a set of different players is priced one banner at a time.
How long until the banners arrive?
Banners ship in 1 to 2 business days, then ground shipping takes 2 to 5 business days. We cannot promise an arrival date, so order before the first game with time to spare. Shipping is $9.99, and it is free on orders of $99 or more.
Which size works for a dugout?
A 6 x 3 ft banner is a good size for a dugout wall, and an 8 x 3 ft banner gives a long roster more room. Solid vinyl weighs about 13 ounces per square yard, so a 6 x 3 ft banner weighs about 1.6 lb.
